About the Event

The K-5 Computer Science Standards workshop prepares elementary school general education teachers and other practitioners to teach the 2020 New Jersey Student Learning Standards in computer science. The workshop will provide a preliminary overview of the necessary content-pedagogical knowledge to teach these standards and provide examples of practical ways to integrate these concepts into classroom practice. Attendees will have the opportunities to collaborate to co-create lesson plans and other activities that are ready for classroom use. Session facilitators will work closely with teachers to provide teachers with feedback and space for ongoing refinement. No prior experience with computer science is required or expected, and we encourage teachers new to Computer Science to attend and share this event.

This event is open only to educators currently teaching in New Jersey. Once you register, you will need to complete a verification process to have a school administrator approve your registration and submit an IRS Form W-9 to receive your stipend and confirm your registration. This repeat session will be offered over 2 Saturdays - Day 1 will take place on 3/5, Day 2 will take place on 3/19.
